Choirz, who hail from Pembroke, Ontario, emerged from the diverse experiences of lifelong friends Brandon Kennedy and Christopher Chartrand. Kennedy had been a member of several Canadian rock and metal bands including Goat Horn, Zuku, and Flying Fortress, while Chartrand was a member of Cauldron, Zuku and Kill Cheerleader, and was the live drummer for Crystal Castles.
Together, along with songwriter/musician Jed Corriveau (who does not perform live with the duo) craft haunting electro-pop soundscapes, blending intricate synth rhythms with emotionally charged lyrics that delve into the depths of heartbreak.
“There has always been a sort of serendipitous magic around Choirz,” says Brandon. “I was at a crossroads in my life when Jed originally reached out to share a bounty of electronic tracks he had been working on, which ultimately sparked the idea of Choirz. Not only did I see them as innovative, but as a lifeline out of the personal chokehold I was in.”
Choirz released their first EP, “Diamond Lover” in 2021 along with videos for songs "Diamond Lover" and "Mirrors". Follow up releases include 2023's single "Hold Your Heart" and their 2024 sophomore EP "Ecdysis" which includes singles “Never Enough”, “Grinding Dirt”, and a music video for "Grinding Dirt".
Choirz are currently writing and recording new material, and are slated for gigs in Ottawa, Toronto and various locations in the Ottawa Valley.
